This piece was made for a mold making class in response to the prompt ‘found mold’. Instead of using a traditional mold, I was interested in seeing if I could cast plaster inside stuffed animals and see what forms I could create. It was a laborious process, the fabric did not want to be removed from the plaster even when I coated it in vaseline, so it took a lot of yanking to get the plaster free from the textile mold. After casting several pieces from different ‘molds’, I carefully attached the pieces together creating a totem pole-esque ‘teddypede’, a friendly, strange critter with many heads and limbs.
